If you’re looking for scam-free work at home job, ways to save money (because saving money is like making money) and learn how to earn a passive income – then you came to the right spot!

My passion for helping others comes from a personal journey I had to ๐ŸฅŠ fight through. I made a promise to the little girl inside me that I would find my voice and I continue to do that. – “Sometimes telling your story is the thing that saves your life.

I remember years of agony fighting PTSD, depression, and anxiety while trying to maintain a regular 9 to 5 job. Crying all the way to work and then wiping the tears away right before I walked in to work. I never felt comfortable telling my boss that I was dealing with depression because I feared being fired or looked at as unreliable. I put a smile on my face and when asked: “How are you doing today?” I would answer “Great!” but knowing I felt like I was dying inside.

Here’s how it all started –
(I’m sharing my personal story because if I can do it. So can you! Thriving through adversity!)

The Beginning. ๐Ÿคฑ

When I became a single parent in my teen years. I knew staying at home to take care of my son was my #1 goal, like so many of us parents desire. So I started doing a lot of research online for virtual careers from home. During this time I became pregnant again and I endured the most difficult choice of placing my youngest son for adoption. Financially, emotionally and mentally I knew I could not properly take care of two children while already struggling to take care of one. The pain I had to overcome over the years, stirred up a lot of buried feelings about my own trauma as a child.

My Healing. ๐Ÿ‘Š

My personal struggle started when I was a small child. I had experienced physical abuse and sexual molestation. I desperately wanted to heal from the trauma and find my Voice. In 2016 I launched my personal blog www.UnlockedPain.com. I choose to be transparent in sharing my story, my struggles and my journey of healing. I hope to empower others who struggle with trauma by filling in the gaps in my own little way.

The Process. ๐Ÿงฉ

During these years I also started to work as a freelancer on the side. I even taught myself how to build websites, graphic design, HTML coding, photo/video editing, and blogging. This is when I began to discover my passion for living a digital nomad lifestyle! Unfortunately, over the years I discovered there were a lot of scams that I had to sift through to find legitimate WAH (work at home) websites and companies. The great thing is I now know what to look for, the red flags and how to do my own reviews.

My First “WAH Job”. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป

My first remote online opportunity was in 2005, I became a virtual worker and freelancer. One of my first paid “virtual tasks” was working on the Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) platform like a virtual assistant. And yes, Amazon MTurk is still around ๐Ÿ‘. Even though MTurk was not a full-time steady job. It did allow me to make extra money on the side and work from home part-time.

What is MTurk? Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing Internet marketplace enabling individuals and businesses (known as Requesters) to perform discrete on-demand tasks that computers are currently unable to do. It is one of the sites of Amazon Web Services and is owned by Amazon.

I also worked as …

A Freelancer at Upwork.com
Virtual Assistant for FancyHands.
A Reservation Agent for Recreation.gov through ActiveNetwork
A Customer Service Agent for Grubhub.com through NexRep

The Deciding Factor. ๐Ÿšช

Once my son was in high school I did return to a “regular job” because my telecommute contract ended. I was at my job for 9 months when they gave us the news. They were closing their doors and outsourcing the positions for cheaper wages. I lost my job and I was living in a small town with very little employment opportunities. This was a blessing in disguise!!!

Since I’ve done years and countless hours of research over the years. That’s when I finally had my light bulb ๐Ÿ’ก moment. I wanted to help make it easier for others to find legit home based jobs and avoid those scams!

LivingTheWorkAtHomeLife.com was launched to review legit remote jobs and companies. But also to teach you ways to save money (put money back in your pocket) and earn a passive income online. Working from home is so much more than just “working from home”. It’s my way of putting myself and my mental health first. It’s important that I have flexibility in my schedule to have a day off when I know I need it. Being my own boss isn’t so bad ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ’ผ
